Office of the vice-provost for online education and academic innovation

The George Washington University Office for Online Education and Academic Innovation oversees GW's extensive array of high-quality online programs and courses. It is led by Prof. Paul Schiff Berman.

GW currently offers approximately 70 certificate and degree programs online, as well as hundreds of online courses that provide full GW credit and feature a high degree of interactivity, low student/faculty ratios, and unique online experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom. In addition, the University is committed to offering free open courses to the general public on select topics as part of our mission to provide worldwide thought leadership and educational access.

The Office includes the university-wide Academic Technologies department, and GW VALOR, the University's comprehensive initiative to serve veterans, active duty military service personnel, and their families.

The GW eDesign Shop is a department under the direction of Paul Schiff Berman, Vice Provost for Online Education and Academic Innovation. The team consists of instructional designers, multimedia and video specialists that specialize in program, course, and online design. Instructional designers ensure that each product undergoes a thorough pedagogical review and maintains a high design standard.
